Recall a legendary bygone era on this journey to a trail camp and the awesome White Pass summit.

The Trail of '98 begins in Skagway's historical downtown area—just a few blocks long. Explore streets lined by false-fronted buildings and wooden boardwalks from the comfort of your motor coach.

You'll then head up the majestic West White Pass summit which is 3,292 feet above sea level. thrill to your driver/guide's stories of stampeders who made their way along Brackett Wagon Road, past Pitchfork Falls and Dead Horse Gulch as your coach climbs through the Tormented Valley. There will be ample photo opportunities along the way.

Back in Skagway, you'll pause at an historic trail camp and browse through tents former used as a laundry, saloon and bordello. As you gather around a campfire enjoying hot cider and ginger snaps, an old sourdough will recite a chilling ballad by the "Bard of the north," Robert Service. You may even try your hand at gold panning—you are welcome to keep any you find!

All too soon, it's time to reboard your coach and head back to the ship.

Approximately 3 to 3-1/2 hours.
