Join us for an exciting, yet gentle, introduction to white water rafting. No exprience is needed -- just an adventurous spirit!

Your wilderness adventure begins with a scenic bus ride to Mendenhall Lake, for superb views of the one-and-a-half-mile wide, twelve-mile long glacier.

After donning boots and life jackets, you'll board a large rubber raft carrying between eight and twelve people for your two-hour float trip. An experienced oarsman will row you across the sparkling waters of the lake, while you marvel at spectacular views of the floes and icebergs which have crashed from the glacier's face. From here, you'll proceed to the river where stretches of gentle rapids add excitement to your ride. The amount of "white water" depends on the degree of recent rain. You'll pass untouched forests and marvel at spectacular views of towering cloud-draped mountains.

Midway through your journey, you'll step ashore for tasty treats of Alaskan-style salmon jerky, reindeer sausage and cheese. Apple cider is also available along with some of "Martha's Mendenhall Madness," a local libation believed to aid in observing glacial movement! Shortly thereafter, you'll continue downriver where your bus awaits for the return to Crystal Symphony.

Approximately 3-1/2 hours (rafting time is 2 hours).
