Banjul, The Gambia
     Africa Cruise Port

Purchased in 1816 from the King of the Kombos by the British with cash, rum, tobacco, and firearms, this city was used as a garrison for naval and military personnel involved in the prevention of the slave traffic. Today, Banjul is the lifeblood of The Gambia, with its peanut and fish processing companies. Declared independent in 1965, Banjul is known as one of the safest cities in the world. Be sure not to miss the State House and the minarets of the King Fuad Mosque as you stroll through Banjul’s historic districts.
